A quiet corner dedicated to John Lennon, with the Imagine mosaic. Come in the morning when it is calmer. Buskers often play Beatles songs nearby.
- 2
Bow Bridge
Bow Bridge
The cast-iron bridge over the lake is one of the park's prettiest spots, especially in autumn. Early morning is the best time for photos without crowds.
- 3
Bethesda Terrace and Fountain
Bethesda Terrace
The terrace is a good place to sit and people-watch under its tiled arcade. The lake is right beside it and boat rentals are available in warm months.
- 4
Belvedere Castle viewpoint
Belvedere Castle
A small stone castle on a rock with views over the Great Lawn. It is a short uphill walk from the terrace and makes a nice picnic or rest stop before the museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met is huge, so pick two or three wings instead of trying to see everything. Egyptian art, the Temple of Dendur and European paintings are the usual favourites. Adult admission for non-residents is about 30 dollars, so book ahead online.

Cake at Cafe Sabarsky
Cafe Sabarsky
A Viennese-style cafe inside the Neue Galerie, a short walk up Fifth Avenue. Try the strudel or a slice of torte with coffee. It is popular on weekends, so go on a weekday afternoon if you can.
